Chicken Rice, a dish when you name it, you possibly could have find it literally anywhere in Singapore!
If you would have thought that your food journey is essential & completed, wait until you give this amazingly mind-blowing dish a try!
Accounting to only less than three stalls around the island, “Good Year Local Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball” is such an extraordinaire that redefines your typical Singapore iconic dish!
It is therefore no surprise for an epic Chicken Rice lover like yours truly, who would certainly clock this down as the finale version of Hainanese Chicken Rice!
Located in the bustling neighbourhood of Toa Payoh Lorong 1 and a mere stone’s throw away from Braddell MRT station, this is the ultimate dish that is widely known & patronised by the local Singaporeans!
I totally would have to recommend this treat as the best indulgence especially when one is feeling exceptionally hungry!
The food choices are rather extensive that covers the entire selection of Hainanese Chicken Rice delights which are authentic & affordable! It was a joy interacting with the friendly & jovial stall owners who are leading their golden years, as well as bearing the passionate attitude towards their love in serving this dish!
I ordered some Chicken Rice balls with a mixed plate of boiled steamed chicken & roasted chicken that was added with a delightful touch of gizzard!
While waiting for the main dish to arrive, it was first served along with couple bowls of freshly brewed herbal soup & amazing sidekick of blended garlic and chilli sauce!
The soup was exceptionally fragrant that contained the sweet essence of groundnuts and chicken feet.
This is certainly one of those outstanding stalls that really awed me by its competency in soup quality, despite it being as a complementary sidekick! The sauces were also perfectly crafted, unleashing just the right amount of aromatic spices from the citric taste of the chilli, as well as the light soothing taste from the ginger.
Both the chicken meat are very well seasoned with light soy sauce, where for the boiled steamed chicken, you can really taste the freshness from that smooth delicate skin, as well as the moist and tender meat on the inside.
The roasted chicken on the other hand is definitely on par as well, due to its pure heavenly fragrance of roasted skin on the outside that also bears a similar meat texture as the boiled steamed chicken too!
If you are a gizzard lover, you would totally agree with me that this stall sells it as one of the best! The gizzard are extremely chewy that was filled with every bite of sweetness from the dressing of light soy sauce!
Having a good essential “base” of what defines an authentic Hainanese Chicken Rice dish, their main ultimate rice ball would be the absolute reason for making your trip down!
I was certainly awed by its remarkably huge tennis ball size alike, as well as the aromatic fragrance that was elevated off with every plate!
The rice balls had consists of a soft sticky & clumpy mixture that really reminds me of the similar texture found in a glutinous rice!
If this is your first time here, do not simply underestimate the size of each rice balls as ordering a quantity of two to three is indeed sufficient for a big eater. I totally could not helped but to get my tummy all filled up with satisfaction after the epic combination of flavours that are merged from the varieties of my order.
I have to specially mention that the stall owners did really delicate in a huge amount of passion and effort by not neglecting on all the various aspects of this perfect dish, even from the smallest aspects of them all such as the sauces & the soup!
This is indeed a key factor of admiration & one of the absolute reasons for their huge success over the years. If you are a Chicken Rice lover or simply are a tourist who are all ready to be awed by such perfection, be sure not to miss out on this outstanding stall that I would strongly recommend!
